2-Day Bollywood Tour in Switzerland

Visit the real and fascinating Bollywood shooting locations in Switzerland, seen in films such as, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), Dhoom 3, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Don 2, Mohabbatein, Chandni, Darr, Sangam, Yes Boss, Ajnebee, Deewana Mastana and many more!”

Day One

We’ll drive from Zurich to Lucerne, situated idyllically on its eponymous lake. During a brief stopover, we’ll visit the old town and Luzern’s Landmark, the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe.

After a scenic drive over a 1,007 metre-high mountain-pass, skirting a turquoise colored mountain lake, we’ll reach Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland, where many Indian movie scenes were filmed.

Interlaken is the starting point for the journey to the famous Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe (Europe’s highest railway station, at 3,454 metres above sea level), famous to countless Bollywood fans. Please note: A visit of the Jungfraujoch is not scheduled in this tour.

Continuing to the Simmen valley, we will visit the station where Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan missed the train in the film “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ)”.

Overnight stay is in the Saanen – Gstaad area where Bollywood greats like Yash Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and many others stayed while filming in the Bernese Oberland.

Day Two

After breakfast we will visit the villages of Saanen and Gstaad, the “operational headquarters” for many of Yash Chopra’s and other Indian films. You can dance on the same bridge on which Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan danced in the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ).

We’ll then visit the lake named in honour of Yash Chopra and the numerous films he directed in this area. As a special treat, you can use a rowing boat on Yash Chopra Lake and take lots of impressive souvenir photos.

Appropriately, perhaps, we drive through the Saanen Valley to a medieval town which is perched on a small hill with a castle that’s over 800 years old.

Before returning to Zurich, we’ll visit a cheese factory where you can see how the famous Gruyère cheese is made and stored. In the restaurant you can then enjoy a traditional cheese fondue or other Swiss specialities.
