Erwin’s Bench Tour in Switzerland

Fiery red-painted benches, perched on the most beautiful vantage points in the Zurich Oberland region, invite you to linger and daydream.

Picturesque meadows in the spring, cool shaded courts in summer, colourful forests in autumn and snow-covered hills in the winter make this trip an unforgettable experience all year round.

Just a stone’s throw from Zurich, you will discover the impressive beauty of the hilly Zürcher Oberland (Zurich highlands), little known even among the locals.

At various vantage points, the red benches await your participation in nature’s sustainable peace, among flowers, meadows and forests, singing birds, grazing cows and their soothing cowbell sounds.

This beautiful landscape is home to many farms, one of which you can experience for yourself; the farmer is happy to show you around and answer your questions about animal husbandry and the working farm.

In a nearby cheese factory you can see how the locally produced milk is processed into Swiss mountain cheese. The adjoining dairy shop offers cheese and other locally-crafted dairy products.

We will conclude the tour with a scenic farm experience. Set on top of a small hill with stunning views of the nearby lake and the hills beyond.

Participants can visit the farm shop and restaurant, or enjoy the many seats placed throughout the courtyard area, next to animal enclosures and surrounded by orchards.

After all, this is Erwin’s bench tour, as the title suggests! I myself grew up in the Zürcher Oberland, where I know just about every nook and cranny.

I’ll show you the Zürcher Oberland with great enthusiasm; there are stories and anecdotes about mine and this area’s past that I just have to tell you!
