With Zurich as our starting point, we’ll drive up through Rickenpass and Hemberg in the Appenzell region.
Our first stop is a small viewpoint restaurant amid verdant meadows, where you can take in the impressive, nearby Alps and the first local products.
The journey continues through the scenic Appenzeller hills, where you can witness production of the famous Appenzeller cheese in a local factory, with dairy products available to purchase.
On a farm visit, you can ask the farming family questions about animal husbandry, milk production and local culture.
The town of Appenzell, with its artfully painted houses, surrounds visitors in a fascinating, magical radiance.
Steep yourself in the preserved and present culture of Appenzell.
Bakeries, craft shops and the nearby brewery all ooze native pride in the shape of local produce for your delectation.
I have explored the Appenzell often, by motorbike, car and on foot throughout my lifetime.
To this day, the fabulous scenery and deep abiding peace leave no less of an impression on me each time.
